Matching Terrains under a Linear Transformation∗
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study the problem of matching two polyhedral terrains, where one can be changed vertically by a linear transformation of the third coordinate (scaling and translation). We give an algorithm that minimizes the maximum distance over all linear transformations in O(npolylog n) expected time. We also study matching two 1-dimensional terrains, and give a (1+ ε)-approximation algorithm for minimizing the area in between that runs in O(n/ √ ε) time, for any fixed ε > 0.

A New Structural Matching Method Based on Linear Features for High Resolution Satellite Images
Along with commercial accessibility of high resolution satellite images in recent decades, the issue of extracting accurate 3D spatial information in many fields became the centre of attention and applications related to photogrammetry and remote sensing has increased. To extract such information, the images should be geo-referenced. The procedure of georeferencing is done in four main steps...
متن کاملCorrelation between Piecewise - Linear Functions ∗
We study the problem of computing correlation between two piecewise-linear bivariate functions defined over a common domain, where the surfaces they define in three dimensions— polyhedral terrains—can be transformed vertically by a linear transformation of the third coordinate (scaling and translation). We present a randomized algorithm that minimizes the maximum vertical distance between the g...
متن کاملA Robust False Matching Points Detection Method for Remote Sensing Image Registration
Given the influences of illumination, imaging angle, and geometric distortion, among others, false matching points still occur in all image registration algorithms. Therefore, false matching points detection is an important step in remote sensing image registration. Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) is typically used to detect false matching points. However, RANSAC method cannot detect all false...
متن کاملA Nonlinear Grayscale Morphological and Unsupervised method for Human Facial Synthesis Based on an Example Image
Human facial generation of example image is used as a requirement for biometric applications for the purpose of identifying individuals. In this paper, face generation consists of three main steps. In the first step, detection of significant lines and edges of the example image are carried out using nonlinear grayscale morphology. Then, hair areas are identified from the face of sample. The fin...
متن کاملAsymmetric color matching: how color appearance depends on the illuminant.
We report the results of matching experiments designed to study the color appearance of objects rendered under different simulated illuminants on a CRT monitor. Subjects set asymmetric color matches between a standard object and a test object that were rendered under illuminants with different spectral power distributions. For any illuminant change, we found that the mapping between the cone co...
